How to choose, cost, and import a concrete batching plant
A practical guide for overseas buyers — sizing the right plant for your output, understanding the real cost of ownership, and what to expect when you buy and ship from China.
Step 1 — Selection
Choosing the right plant
Start with output, not the model number. Work out the peak volume of concrete you need on your busiest day, then divide by the working hours available — that gives the hourly rate the plant must sustain. A plant rated at 120 m³/h does not pour 120 m³ every hour in the field: between truck changeovers, material loading, and mix-design changes, real-world output is typically 65–85% of the rated figure. Size for the rated capacity that keeps your effective output comfortably above your peak demand.
Next, choose the plant type for how you will work. A stationary plant is the right answer when you batch in one place for months or years — ready-mix supply, a large precast yard, or a long infrastructure programme. A mobile plant trades top-end capacity for speed: it arrives on a road-legal trailer, needs no foundations, and can be producing concrete the same day, which suits remote sites, road projects, and contracts that move. A mixing tower stacks the process vertically so aggregate is lifted once and then gravity-fed, cutting energy use and footprint — the choice for high-volume urban plants where land and emissions are constrained.
Finally, pick how aggregate reaches the mixer. Skip-hoist feeding is compact and economical, ideal for small-to-mid output and engineering sites. Belt-conveyor feeding sustains the highest continuous rates and is the standard for serious ready-mix production. Direct-feed drops aggregate straight into the mixer with no skip or belt — the simplest structure, the lowest civil cost, and the fastest to erect, which is why it travels well to export markets that value mechanical simplicity.

Total cost and return
The purchase price of the plant is only part of the picture. A realistic budget accounts for the equipment itself, the civil works and foundations (or the savings from a foundation-free design), sea freight and inland transport, installation and commissioning, and the ongoing operating cost — power, labour, maintenance, and wear parts. Across a plant's life, the running costs and the value of uptime usually outweigh the difference between two suppliers' sticker prices, which is why mixer quality, weighing accuracy, and after-sales support matter more than the headline number.
The encouraging part is how quickly a well-utilised batching plant pays for itself. Because you are producing concrete in-house instead of buying it in — or selling it to others — the margin on every cubic metre accumulates fast. Step 3 — Buying & shipping
Buying and importing from China
A batching plant is built to be shipped. TIANYU plants are engineered so the structure, mixer, batcher, silos, and control cabin pack into standard shipping containers — and for export specifically, options like split (bolt-together) silos, fully galvanized steelwork for coastal and high-humidity climates, and foundation-free fast-install designs cut both shipping volume and on-site civil work. The path from enquiry to pouring concrete is predictable: you send your requirements, we recommend a configuration and quote; on approval the plant is manufactured and factory-tested; it is then packed and dispatched by sea freight; and on arrival our engineers support installation, commissioning, and operator training — on site or by guided video, depending on the destination. After handover, TIANYU backs the plant with spare-parts supply and remote technical support, because a plant that stands idle waiting for a part is the most expensive plant of all.
